Double-H Charolais

Harlin & Sue Hecht and their three sons, Howard, Mark and Dale and daughters-in-law, Laura, Becky and Jill have been breeding registered Charolais cattle since February 6, 1968 (nearly 40 years). They have maintained a small prestigious herd which has been selected for calving ease, performance, disposition and the polled factor along with outstanding EPD's. Every animal raised at Double-H Charolais has had performance records turned in to the American-International Charolais Ass'n. (this means high accuracy EPD's to you, the buyer). Many of of the exceptional females in the herd are used in embryo transplant programs, both at Double-H and in other progressive herds around the country.

Double-H Charolais has been very successful in showing their cattle in state and national competition. They have owned the Minnesota State Fair Grand Champion Bull and Grand Champion Female many times. They have won Premier Breeder and Exhibitor at the Minnesota State Fair more times than any other breeder during the 40 years they have shown there. Double-H has also done well in AIJCA Junior National competition, as Dale was named Junior Herdsman of the Year, Mark and Dale each have shown Junior National Class winners, and Howard has shown the Junior National Bred and Owned Champion. In a few years you can watch for Chris, Alyssa, Taylor, Payton, Matthew, Riley and a new baby to be on the junior show circuit with Double-H cattle.

The Hecht family has also been involved in the state and national associations. On the state level, Mark is a current Director of the Minnesota/Wisconsin Charolais Association, Dale is a past Director, and Harlin and Howard are both past Presidents and Directors. On the national level, Harlin has served as AICA Secretary, Treasurer and AICA Area Director and has been on the AICA Breed Improvement and Rules and Ethics Committees for many years. Sue is past National President of the CharolaisDees and past member of the AICA Junior Council. Howard and Mark are both past National Presidents of the AIJCA and Dale served several years on the AIJCA Board of Directors.

In 1996 the many Double-H accomplishments were recognized when Harlin Hecht was inducted into the Minnesota Livestock Hall of Fame. Only 100+ people have had this great honor during the one hundred year existence of the Minnesotga Livestock Breeders Association. Harlin is the first Charolais breeder ever to be inducted. Also, Harlin and Sue were named AIJCA Junior National Conference Honorees in 1990 for their continuing support of youth in the Charolais industry. Most recently, Harlin was named 2006 AICA National Herdsman of the Year, an honor voted on by his peers in the Charolais breed.
